COVID 19 Vaccine

If you are over 50 or under 50 with underlying health conditions, you will be eligible for a COVID booster vaccination 6months from the date of your 2nd dose.

If you are contacted directly by NHS to book an appointment, please follow the link provided or call 119 to book. Please note that these are national appointments, and you may not get offered an appointment in Barnsley just yet.

Appointments at local vaccination hubs will be available soon and you will be contacted directly as soon as we have dates for these.

Can we please ask that you DO NOT call the practice about booster appointments as we are unable to assist at this time.  Any queries should be directed to 119.

As of 16th April:

9 out of 10 Barnsley people aged 50 and over have now had their first vaccine and over 123,000 of our residents have had their first dose, which is fantastic.

Second doses: We’re running lots of 2nd dose clinics during April. If you had yours done in Barnsley, please wait to be contacted for your appointment. You’ll be contacted around 11 weeks after your 1st dose, so please don’t call your GP practice to check for your date.

45-49: You might have seen this week that people aged 45-49 are now being invited for their 1st dose. This is just the start of the invite process. As we get into May there will be more vaccines and appointments available across the country. These will be available here in Barnsley and also at the larger vaccination centres. It’s another big group of people; it’ll take us a few weeks, but we will contact you.

Thank you again to all our vaccination teams and thank you to everyone for supporting the vaccination programme in Barnsley.

  • Any patient between the ages of 18 - 69 who were sent a letter to shield by their GP surgery or the Government during the COVID-19 pandemic

COVID 19 Vaccine update:

The NHS across Barnsley is doing an incredible job to deliver the largest vaccination programme in our history. Across our GP-led vaccination services sites we have now vaccinated a large proportion of Barnsley’s most vulnerable residents in the first four high priority groups. Again, a huge thanks to everyone making this possible.

Whilst we are still working our way around housebound patients over the next couple of weeks, the majority of over 70s and clinically extremely vulnerable (shielding) patients should now have been contacted and invited for a first dose appointment. This might be via your GP or at one of the large vaccination centres.

We are now asking you to get in touch if you are in the following groups and have not had your vaccine, or have an appointment booked.

Please get in touch with our vaccination team (not your GP), if:

  • If you are 70 or above and haven’t had your vaccine, or have an appointment booked
  • If you are clinically extremely vulnerable (to be eligible in the clinically extremely vulnerable group you must have previously received a letter advising you to shield) and you haven’t had your vaccine, or have an appointment booked

If you have an appointment booked, you do not need to contact us.

If you are in either of these groups and have not been offered an appointment yet, please contact the vaccination team at with your details below:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Date of Birth
  • Postcode
  • Telephone number ( so we can call you to arrange the appointment)

You can do this on behalf of a family member, with their permission, if they do not have access to email.

Our COVID-19 vaccination booking team will then be in touch with eligible patients to book suitable appointments. Please do not call your GP practice.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are 69 years old or younger and are not clinically extremely vulnerable (shielding), please do not contact us, as we are not able to respond. This will delay our most vulnerable patients from getting a vaccine appointment. Also, you don’t need to contact us if you are registered as housebound.
